Through films like “Being John Malkovich” or “Adaptation” Charlie Kaufman has taken audiences down many surreal, existential rabbit holes as a writer and director. “Anomalisa” has even accomplished similar goals through animation. However, a bedtime story told in association with the studio behind “Trolls” might seem almost too bizarre of an idea, even by Kaufman’s standards. Thankfully, such a beast already exists in “Orion and the Dark.”
‘Dream Scenario’ warns of fame’s nightmares
Dreams often come up as a subject of mystery and intrigue for the unpredictable events that unfold in them. In his absurdist dramedy “Dream Scenario,” director Kristoffer Borgli (“Sick of Myself”) takes these random possibilities to a whole new level as he uses the phenomenon as an outlet for unconventional social commentary and cheeky satire.
